After Max announced our “Summer of Stuff” in a previous post as well as the public launch of Pluspad, it is time to unveil the next project: meet flowli, our new CPP (content publishing platform).

We're super happy to announce the public launch of PlusPad, a web-based app that allows teachers to record and share feedback with their students.

It's been a while since we've updated our blog – but hey, we've got a good excuse: it's been madly busy here at Ludopoli!

I recently came across Tom Wujec’s amazing TED presentation where kindergarten kids were excelling in building the highest structures (only beaten by architects and engineers).
Overhyping, underhyping: why hype at all?
dietrich | 15 Apr 2010 at 15:04 | 0 Comments
In recent weeks a discussion on overhyping and underhyping a Start-Up has begun in various IT- and Start-Up blogs. If one looks at applications like Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare etc., each of them has been hyped, or possibly overhyped at times.
Woz always wins

Slate Magazine currently has an article stating that the iPad is Steve Jobs’ final victory over Steve Wozniak. The irony is that the exact opposite is true.
Why the iPad is like the Titanic and why it shares the same fate

The iPad hasn't shipped yet, so how can I be so sure of its fate? Because the laws of the diffusion of innovation are like the laws of gravity. They're laws.
Business plan or business strategy?

This morning I came across an article by Marc Götz about the question whether Business plans are really always required. I am grateful to Marc to start a discussion about this topic – I believe far too much effort and time is invested into making glossy, fancy and incredibly detailed predictions about the businesses outlook, which in particular with start-ups, can (and usually does) change dramatically from the original idea until the launch of a product.
Design debt diary

The term technical debt (or design debt) is well-known in the developer community. It basically means that due to various factors (lack of budget, time, or experience, careless planning, etc.), certain elements of a piece of software are simply 'bolted on', rather than homogenously integrated. Consequences are eg. buggy performance, or a disjointed user experience. Mind you, it's completely normal for software to build up debt – after all, software (and humans) are never perfect. However, if this debt is allowed to get out of hand, working on or with the software becomes impossible, and it may have to be re-written from scratch.
iPad, Courier & fat fingers

When the iPad was announced, the reaction of tech blogs and even die-hard fanboys ranged from muted disappointment to outright schadenfreude ('Oh look, an iPhone, only bigger!'). No surprises here, but much more interestingly, nobody commented on its input device: your fingers.
The word ‘database’ is already disgusting

Vlad is our resident quote maker -- he’s always saying things that take you by surprise. Today we were looking at a project that had hundreds of stored procedures and I relayed my disdain for stored procedures. Vlad added, “Frankly, I think a good project shouldn’t have a database. The word database is already disgusting.”

Testing, testing... I must say that I am very excited that our own little blog has gone live. It's based on our very own engine, lovingly handcrafted by Sergey, a member of our talented team of code magicians.
